     Ir. Budi Karya Sumardi was born on December 18, 1956. He was the Minister of Transportation of the Republic of Indonesia in the Advanced Indonesia cabinet (2019-2024) having previously held the same position in the Working Cabinet since July 27, 2016 replacing Ignasius Jonan. He is known as one of the ministers closest to President Joko Widodo, because he has always been a choice since President Jokowi was still the Governor of DKI Jakarta. As Minister of Transportation, Budi Karya was considered quite successful in handling Lebaran homecoming in 2018 and 2019. When Jokowi was appointed President in 2014, Budi Karya's name was circulated touted as a Candidate for Minister of Public Housing / Minister of Public Works because it was called successful in realize Jokowi's projects in the Jakarta.

     On March 14, 2020, Budi Karya Sumadi was diagnosed with Covid-19 as patient No. 76. Following the chronology, On February 29, Budi held a meeting and press conference on the Provision of Tourism Transportation Incentives Towards 10 tourist destination points in Indonesia. On March 2, a number of activities were passed by Budi Karya Sumadi.      On March 11, Budi Karya Sumadi met Dutch Minister of Infrastructure and Water Management Cora Van Nieuwenhuize to discuss opportunities for cooperation in the transportation sector. In addition, Budi Karya also attended a limited meeting of the Advanced Indonesian Cabinet with the theme of the Special Autonomy of Papua and the problems of the land of North Sumatra. Then, on March 14, Minister of State Secretary Pratikno said that Budi Karya Sumadi was infected with the corona virus or Covid-19. This was also conveyed by the Deputy Head of the Army Gatot Soebroto Army Brigadier General Dr. Albertus Budi Sulistya.

     For the development of his health, was conveyed directly by Minister of Health Terawan Agus Purwanto, that Budi was being treated and had begun to be fine.
